Mauro is committed to stop the cycle: increased taxes – increased cost of living – harder for affordability.
Affordability starts with stopping excessive spending. It is no secret that the economy has slowed down and everyone’s household budgets have been impacted. Yet, Property Taxes have increased 16.82 % between 2022 and 2026. Here are a few decisions that contributed to our property tax increases.
Small businesses are the heart of Bradford.
Downtown revitalization should strengthen our local economy—not create new challenges for the businesses that keep it alive.
The goal should be simple: modernize critical infrastructure, improve the appearance of our downtown, support local businesses, and protect accessibility for customers and residents.
Through collaboration, transparency, and common-sense planning, we can revitalize our downtown while preserving the businesses and community character that make Bradford unique.
Mauro's Stance on Key Local Issues
Public trust is not created by promises. It is earned through actions.
If elected Mayor, restoring public confidence in municipal government will be one of my priorities.
That begins with communication. Residents should receive clear and understandable information about major decisions, major expenditures and issues affecting their neighbourhoods as early as legally possible.
This election is now about more than one building. It is about how major decisions are made, how taxpayer money is protected, and whether residents have a meaningful voice before—not after—decisions of this magnitude are locked in.
Cancel what we responsibly can. Control what we cannot. Consult the public. No blank cheque for the $100 million Town Hall.
VOTER PRIORITIES
If elected Mayor, Mauro will ensure that the settlement boundary expansion process is transparent, inclusive, and accountable. Residents deserve to be informed, consulted, and heard.
Most importantly, these decisions will be made openly by the full Council, with the interests of the entire community at the forefront.
Together, we can accommodate growth while preserving the character, values, and quality of life that make Bradford a great place to call home.
Leadership requires accountability from the Mayor, but it also requires courage and accountability from Council.
My Commitment:
I am not running for Mayor by promising to pretend these powers don't exist.
I am running because I understand what it means to be entrusted with exceptional authority.
Do you know the limits of your authority?
Do you exercise restraint?
Can you make the difficult decision when action is genuinely required?
Can you explain that decision publicly?
And are you prepared to be held accountable afterward?
I have lived with those responsibilities before. That is the standard I will bring to the Mayor's office.
Strong powers require strong judgment.
Strong powers require accountability.
And above all, Strong Mayor powers require public trust.
Before you cast your ballot, ask yourself one question:
Who do you trust with the powers of the Mayor's office?
